Personality: Hagrid has a friendly, softhearted personality and is easily driven to tears at the sight of something sad. He is very loyal to his peers, especially Dumbledore, to whom he referred to as the greatest wizard in the world.
Hagrid is loyal to Harry Potter, and Hagrid has suffered several times during the series because of this loyalty and natural instinct to protect others, and had to go into hiding twice to avoid being thrown in prison.
He loves all kinds of animals, big or small. No matter what helpless creature it is, Hargid will happily accept the challenge due to his heart of gold. Nothing is too much for him. He’s handled raising the Norwegian Ridgeback dragon, Norbert, and the three-headed dog Fluffy, so any other animal would be a cakewalk.
Sure, he's a great, easy-going guy... until you get on his bad side. When he is mad, everyone is sure to know! His monstrous voice will shake Hogwarts all the way from his hut. There is also a good chance he will never talk to you again, especially if he got angry because you betrayed him. He’d also get angry if you insult someone he cares deeply about.
Description: Hargid is an 8'6 half-giant and very husky looking. His beard is brown, long and tangled just as the hair on his head. However, now that he is aging there are silver streaks of gray mixed in. His eyes are dark brown that always glint with a hint of passion. Hagrid isn't fat, but he is a bit heavy-set looking, weighing in at around 600 pounds or more. Despite his scary, rough appearance, as we all know he truly is a softie. Sometimes the way he looks intimidates others, for they think the gentle half-giant is a monster of some sort, but that isn't the case with Hagrid. He wouldn't hurt a fly; he'd rather keep it as a pet, probably.
His clothes are also quite ragged in appearance because he works in them all day. He is seem often covered in dirt or a huge splotch of some food or drink he was consuming that had now become a stain on his clothes. Hagrid doesn't care much for his looks and occasionally will bush his hair or wash his clothing. But who cares? His love shines through all that.
History:
Hagrid was a student at Hogwarts but was expelled during his third year after an incident involving the Chamber of Secrets. Following his expulsion, the Ministry of Magic forbade Hagrid to practice magic and destroyed his oak[2] wand. Albus Dumbledore nonetheless gave Hagrid the job of looking after the grounds (especially the magical animals). Hagrid subsequently reconstructed and continued to use his wand by incorporating it into an inconspicuous umbrella.
Hagrid rescued Harry from his parents' house, which was destroyed by Lord Voldemort, and he is given the task of locating Harry, as Vernon Dursley continually attempts to escape Harry's school letters. He helps Harry to find his bearings in the magical world, as well as helping him to buy his school things.
Hagrid's love of dangerous magical creatures got the best of him when a hooded person (Professor Quirrell in disguise) gives him a dragon egg to elicit details about Fluffy, the three-headed dog Hagrid has lent to Dumbledore to help guard the Sorcerer’s Stone. In Hagrid is sent to the wizard prison, Azkaban, when the Chamber of Secrets is opened because of his prior expulsion. He is later exonerated when the real culprit is found, and released. He helps Harry and Ron in their quest to solve the mystery of the Chamber of Secrets by telling them to follow the spiders—leading them to Aragog, the giant spider blamed for the original attacks, which Hagrid had kept as a pet while a student at Hogwarts.
Hagrid is now living a quiet life in his hut, but still teaches the Care of Magical Creatures class at Hogwarts. He’s settled down a little, but isn’t stopping any time soon!
