The nation was no longer a melting pot; instead its people were more divided than ever.
The most prominent citizens climbed to the top of the government, and the less ambitious went hungry.

Corruption was running rampant as small groups of men and women
struggled to survive. In the midst of the cold, bleak winter of 2009,
private citizens in Savannah Georgia took matters into their own
hands. A small army began to form. A very reluctant national guard
also formed. Countryside and city alike were burned to the ground,
leaving few rebels alive and many innocents dead.

There are just a few wealthy citizens still left in the Georgian town of ten
thousand, and they are running the few successful businesses. Those who
haven’t abandoned Cairo have turned to theft to survive. At the close of what
can only be called a civil war, many residents dared to hope that they could
pick up their lives and maybe move on.

Wrong.

In the wake of the war, and after lying dormant for centuries,
creatures who had been the stuff of legends began to emerge.

Werewolves underwent painful transformations under the full moon.
Vampires crept through the darkness, only to disappear by morning.
Witches revealed themselves as complex spell-casters.
Shape-shifters tribes began to emerge, too.

Discord swept through the long-hidden communities of these creatures,
with members from each race joining different sides of the ongoing war,
or no side at all.
